In the beta there are challenges players can tackle to unlock a beta-exclusive dogtag.The Battlefield V beta is almost over after rolling out first for pre-order and Access users, followed by an open beta for all other players. The most notable addition with the open beta however, is the introduction to Battlefield V's Tides of War - a live service where new content, challenges, and modes will be added throughout the life of the game. There will be no pay-to-win options or loot boxes in Battlefield V. In the full game there will be a premium currency (microtransactions) for players to spent real money to unlock cosmetics. And included is the Armory system which is a sort of digital storefront where in-game credits can be spent on cosmetics. Players can customize guns but can't customize soldiers in the open beta. If you’re further from battle with the Recon, rack up headshots with the Bolt-Action Rifles – here you can choose between the Lee-Enfield No. If you’re in the heat of the battle with the Assault Class, use Semi-Automatic weapons like the Turner SMLE, M1A1 Carbine, and Gewehr 43, or the StG 44 Assault Rifle. Medic players can play the objective with the sub-machineguns STEN, Suomi KP/31, MP40, and EMP.
The Support Class wields the powerful Light Machine Guns, such as KE7, Bren Gun, and FG-42 – but also the M30 Drilling Shotgun. Picking a Class in the Open Beta also means – to some extent – picking a weapon type. Class upgrades allow players to acquire different weapons and equipment, where a specific weapon's progression opens up customization (skins, optics, and such) and upgrade options (faster firing, reduced recoil, better hipfire, etc.).
Only one 'combat role' is available for each of the game's four playable classes in the beta, but a progression system has been added where players can level up their class and their individual weapons. Squad leaders, who could summon airstrikes and heavy tanks with requisition points accumulated during the battle during the closed alphas, now have on additional option - a supply drop which parachutes in a container of ammo and health resupply anywhere on the map. Standard Conquest mode and Grand Operations are both available for both maps in the beta. There are also more vehicles and gear available in the beta including five tanks ( Valentine Mk VIII, Churchill Mk VII, Churchill Gun Carrier, Panzer IV, and the Tiger I) and seven aircraft (Spitfire Mk VA, Spitfire Mk VB, Blenheim Mk IF, Bf 109 G-2, Ju 87 Stuka B-2, Ju 87 Stuka B-1, and the C47) alongside stationary and towable anti-tank and anti-air gun emplacements.
